We already have the International Space Station, the Space Programs of several nations and the United Nations as models, inter alia, why not set up an “experiment” of E Pluribus Unum  on the disputed Islands and give Japan and China “royalties” “rent” or other compensation for their ownership rights or quitclaim deed to the U.N.

Fun idea that could avoid catastrophe(s) and teach us something about ourselves.
