“And how do you propose that will be done?”
“I suppose gauges will be tampered with.”
“Don’t end a sentence with a with.”
“What, you from Princeton, New Jersey or something?”
“What kind of gauges?”
“I suppose the ones that rate the value of suspect classes and whether affirmative action’s benefits still outweigh their burden on those not within the protected class.”
“You patronizing me?” she asked.
“No, I’m suggesting your liberation.”
“Liberation? We don’t need to be liberated anymore.”
“My point exactly ma’am.”
“Don’t you call me ma’am.”
