Jesus was not born by the time the Sisyphus myth was created in Greece. Albert Camus, who wrote about Sisyphus in an essay, was widely known as an avowed atheist but scholars, intellectuals and teachers of all faiths appreciated his work, especially as a counter point to Sartre’s existential theories. Camus is well known for his World War II era novel The Stranger (1942) and his beatnik era bestseller The Fall (1956) which won him a Nobel Prize for literature soon after it was published.
