The Dodgers won the 1965 World Series and the 1988 World Series, among others.

The difference was we were 7 and believed with our teacher nun that together with a classroom or two full of energy, we could effect positive results for the Dodgers if the whole class agreed to root for the Dodgers. We all agreed.

In 1988, I was in disbelief. My bartender colleague from Torrance asked me about the pitch. I said Orel Hershiser was lucky and that I couldn’t believe bulldog did it.

My bartender mate from Torrance looked at me like I was a chump.  I’m sorry Orel.
