Coming of Age Hypothesis: Dorothy really didn’t want to leave Oz, but once she was back “in Kansas” with those that loved her, Oz became a mere distraction from “home”, only relevant as it related to Hunk, Zeke, Hickory and on occasion, Professor Marvel. Listen to Dorothy’s bratty scream as the air balloon, piloted by the hapless Marvel, sails aloft from the Emerald City.

For the kids.  “There’s no place like home!” 1939

The Wizard of Oz

A Film by Victor Fleming (1939).

Is Miss Gulch dead? Will the family lose the farm? Will Dorothy’s experience in Oz with the Wicked Witch of The West on her tail change the dynamic of black and white?

Never thought those thoughts…maybe once or twice. I’ve been watching the film for at least 55 years.  “not measured by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others.” Thank you Frank Morgan.
