Diversity, Feasibility and Long-Term Timing [as well as IPO shares per Member/Banker Issues]

Does the legal profession keep statistics of employment discrimination lawsuits by women and minorities? Is there an argument for being alike when you are building a platform? Will the Corporation be destabilized if the Board is prematurely crowded with diverse Members?

  • What do you think about the Stanford Law Professor calling foul over all the twitter Board of Directors being White Men? Why bring that up now during the Budget and Debt Ceiling debate? Relationships take time. Don’t shove us together. My take: Stanford University or the Hoover Institution wants to throw a monkey wrench in the IPO and/or the U.S. Budget or Debt Ceiling.

Wikipedia’s George V

I have a 1911 Canadian penny with George’s image.
Found it in a roll of pennies while I was collecting rare coins.  Always liked George.  It was worth many times its value when I found it.

George V (George Frederick Ernest Albert; 3 June 1865 – 20 January 1936) was King of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions, and Emperor of India, from 6 May 1910 through the First World War (1914–18) until his death.

George was a grandson of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert and the first cousin of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia and Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany. From 1877 to 1891, he served in the Royal Navy. On the death of Victoria in 1901, George’s father became King Edward VII, and George was made Prince of Wales. On his father’s death in 1910, he succeeded as King-Emperor of the British Empire. He was the only Emperor of India to be present at his own Delhi Durbar.

As a result of the First World War, other empires in Europe fell while his expanded to its greatest effective extent. In 1917, he became the first monarch of the House of Windsor, which he renamed from the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha as a result of anti-German public sentiment. His reign saw the rise of socialism, communism, fascism, Irish republicanism, and the Indian independence movement, all of which radically changed the political landscape. The Parliament Act 1911 established the supremacy of the elected British House of Commons over the unelected House of Lords. In 1924 he appointed the first Labour ministry and in 1931 the Statute of Westminster recognised the dominions of the Empire as separate, independent kingdoms within the Commonwealth of Nations. He was plagued by illness throughout much of his later reign and at his death was succeeded by his eldest son, Edward VIII.

Communications Skills: What Do We Lack?

Just got off the air with Pedro Baez on KPFK-FM’s “The Hutchinson Report”. We and others discussed Right to Trial under the U.S. Constitution, interpersonal/individual vs. State communications ending in summary execution, fear of being misunderstood and labeled as an “enemy combatant” even if we are generally law-abiding citizens, the “dumbing down” of police functionaries organized by the Department of Homeland Security. Least onerous alternatives, use of force.

Right to Trial By Jury?

We have a right to trial. Discretionary killings with absolute proof appealed to me when I was a lawyer and didn’t want to waste court proceedings on the verifiably guilty, but now that I’m not practicing law am concerned of the “slippery slope”. Like suing doctors or the government, suing the secret service? Hard to beat. Communication with public on law enforcement methods and judicial process in order.

@ShawnUpchurch Today it seems, it is the U.S. Constitution itself is under attack by those seeking a “liberty” from It.

People buy AK-47’s because they may feel the justice system in America favors Americans and is too slow to be effective. Prison populations have risen and new borns abound.

Chelsea and Cutee @HillaryClinton @BillClinton @JebBush

Chelsea Clinton, her friend Cutee and her father Bill are near a café, walking through Central Park in NYC talking about the day’s events, or laughing about a particular adventure. Chelsea asks to be excused to use the ladies room. Bill or Cutee tell Chelsea to meet them on the park bench outside.

Hillary shows up in a taxi with running shoes on. She doesn’t see Chelsea, but does see Bill with Cutee as he opens a door, umbrella, or offers a gentleman’s hand over a puddle. Hillary takes cover behind a telephone switching station and continues to watch Bill and his companion. She watches them take a seat together on the park bench and chat. Bill is sitting quite close now as New Yorkers recognize Bill and want to sit on the same park bench them (why should she get all the fun? They muse).

Hillary Rodham Clinton intervenes and confronts Bill. On his part, Bill smiles back. Her deadpan belies a seething volcano underneath, ready to burst.

Exchange: Whatever the Clinton’s want to write.

Denouement:

Before Hillary comes to discover the identity of Cutee, Chelsea sees what is transpiring out front and fears the worst. Personally, I’d like to see Hillary give Bill a swift kick in the shins before anyone says one word. Good advertising for the English language. Maybe Cutee is not Anglophone. I would like to see Bill and Hillary embrace like Ricky and Lucy at the end of an episode of I Love Lucy, but never divorce or die.

Judges weigh evidence so they know

The Public “collective unconscious” may be pissed and actors like me may have to mock and spin for pleasure. On a more serious note, since judges have discretion in equity, they may have judgment in equities as well.
