Dear President Macron:
I remember one afternoon in French Civilization class the well adored professor said the bleeding heart French wear their hearts on the left side of their coat pocket and their pocketbooks on the right.
I yelled out in French “I wear my wallet on the left!”
He responded in French I mostly understood, then completely when he gestured about Americans, “Ah, les Americains portent leur portfeuille a gauche mais les fusilles en droit!”
The large class began to laugh. He saw they understood and wanted me and others to understand as well so he made the machine gunners/artillery motion with his two hands holding imaginary automatic rifles. By now the class was roaring. I was speechless, especially in French.
Hope all is well, Joyeuse Noel.
Sincerely,
